The pressure that is often formed when traveling in high altitudes can cause a vacuum effect which makes opening the lid nearly impossible. Pelican however has compensated for this and added a pressure release valve that works automatically equalizing the pressure on the inside of the case with that of the outside allowing the lid to be easily opened.
