Founded in 1975 in Torrance, California, Pelican Products is
a multinational American company which specializes in the
manufacturing of cases and flashlights. Its competitive
products have been used in several industries which include
the military, firefighting, police and in entertainment.
With more distribution centers in Spain, Barcelona,
Edmonton, Tokyo, Canada, Adelaide and Japan, Pelican
Products employees are over 1,500 worldwide.
Pelican products started as a home mail-order business by
Arline and David Parker in 1975. Its start was propelled by
David's desire to create practical and unique products to be
used in dive the market. In 2004, they received a payment of 200
million dollars from a private equity investment firm for
their products. Since that time, in spite of David Parker
retirement, the company has been growing ever big. Today,
one of their most competitive products are
Pelican Cases.
The Pelican cases are specially designed products of Pelican Products which are molded from plastic and seal with
a watertight and airtight gasket. The cases have barometric
pressure valve which is made from Gore-Tex to safeguard the cases
from barotrauma. This valve is especially very essential
during transportation of sensitive products and when the
case is exposed to change in environmental pressure. It
helps maintain a balance within the case in spite of the
conditions in it's surrounding.
Another great factor about Pelican cases are that they
can float in water. This is so in case it falls in water, if
not too full, there is always some air in it which provides
buoyancy. The barometric relieve valve, Gore-Tex, allows for
air passage but keeps out liquids which
include acids. However, under some special conditions.
This special feature has gained pelican cases a lot of
popularity in many industries.
What more is that pelican cases comply perfectly with
specification of the NATO, US military, IEC as well as ATA
standards for stacking, waterproofing, impact and
durability. The cases comply with the MIL-STD C4150-J
standards of waterproofing and IEC IP67 ratings which show
their ability to seal dust and water out up to an immersion of
1 meter. The ATA 300 has found it to comply with Air
Transport Association standards for high durability during
shipping. The cases moreover feature a guarantee of a
lifetime.
In addition to pelican cases being sold in Europe under
the name Peli cases, (name from Pelican, which was trade
marked by a different company), they have a wide range of
use all over the world. The pelican cases are used widely by
government agencies, many industries as well as for the
storing of personal equipment.
Due to their high capability to withstand many extreme
conditions, pelican cases have been used for a wide
variety. They are used in the transit of electronics,
handsets, test gears, GPS units, scuba gear, all types of
EMS equipment as well as the transport of rifles. No matter
the item's size, fragility or whatever sensitivity it might
have, there is always the right pelican case to protect
it. |
